Rehearsal Recordings : Autumn 2021 for Christmas Concert
In this piece it is mostly the lower voices knowing when they are singing that is going to improve the confidence in performance. Listen to this recording and remember the fixes we applied to the piece.
Just remember to give it welly on the choruses, particularly all the Hallelujahs. Make sure you know the tune in the third verse properly - please do make sure there are no erroneous notes! Otherwise, I think this piece is going to be pretty good!
This needs really good breathing from the Sopranos so all the phrases are sung through. Also please remember, Sops, the correct tune for "At Mary's Pale Feet". Altos - I'll help best I can with the tricky "Ah lullaby".
This is much better. Vs 4 is more improved. Please listen carefully to the improvements we made today. Sopranos - forgot to mention it - but please look at the Very Last Hallelujah! It is not secure and sounds rather messy. Will sort out next rehearsal but please listen to the guidetracks to help you get the tune in your head.
The focus of the rehearsal today was to shore up the "Think of the joy" section. Much better from Sopranos and Altos - Basses you still need to have confidence in staying to the right pitches. The other focus was the second verse - which features the lower voices prominently so they must sing the correct tune! Please be confident going into each section, particularly the final chorus.
